3D PRINT

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

3D Print helps Shopify merchants accept custom 3D printing and cutting jobs. This policy explains what information the app handles when a merchant installs it or a shopper uses its storefront configurator.

Information we handle

How we use it

We use this information to show the configurator, analyze supported files, calculate prices, send quote requests to the merchant, add priced quotes to the Shopify cart as product variants, display submissions to the merchant, manage app subscriptions and troubleshoot the service. If the merchant enables email notifications, we send submission details through the SMTP provider they configure. Shopify handles the customer checkout and the merchant's app billing.

Files and sharing

Shoppers upload model and drawing files directly to Shopify Files. Shopify Files may provide a publicly accessible CDN URL for a file; shoppers should not upload confidential designs unless they accept that visibility. The app stores a reference to the Shopify file along with the submission details and may store a preview image. The merchant can view submitted files and details in the app. We share the information needed to create the quote's product variants and read the resulting order with Shopify. When cloud analysis is enabled, we send a normalized STL copy and printer settings to our separate PrusaSlicer service. The temporary Shopify analysis file is submitted for deletion afterward; successful statistics are cached for 24 hours. We do not use submitted designs for advertising.

Retention and deletion

The app currently has no automatic expiration period for submitted quotes and their metadata. A merchant can delete a submission in the app. When Shopify sends a customer redaction request, we delete matching quote records from our database; when Shopify sends a shop redaction request, we delete that shop's app records. Shopify-hosted files and Shopify Orders are managed under the merchant's Shopify account and Shopify's own retention controls. Uninstalling the app removes its access session; remaining shop records are deleted when the shop redaction request is received.

Privacy requests

Shoppers should contact the merchant where they submitted a file for access or deletion requests. Merchants may contact the app developer about data held by the app. We also receive Shopify's mandatory customer data request and redaction webhooks.
